August 27, 1928 — February 21, 2021

Loudon

Annie Lucille (Dailey) Black of Loudon peacefully passed away at Lakewood Assisted Living on February 21, 2021. She was born August 27, 1928 to James Arlie and Mae (Jenkins) Dailey. After moving from Lenoir City to Loudon, she graduated from Loudon High School in 1946. The following year she married Lloyd Black, and they remained married for 59 years until his death in 2007. She is survived by their three children and their spouses, Jimmy (Martha) Black; Lynn (Connie) Black; and Becky (Lynn) Davis.

Lucille was preceded in death by her sisters, and brothers-in-law, Geneva (Calvin) Robinson; Faye (Jack) Randolph; and Zelma (Marion) Hodge. Also preceding her in death were her father and mother-in-law, King and Edna Black; brothers and sister-in-law, Leo and Betty Black; and Ernie Black. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Pat Black and several nieces and nephews.

Grandchildren were always a bright spot for Lucille and include Wendy Bivens, Jeremy (Misty) Black, Lori Beaty, Casey (Brent) Goodwin, and Ty (Claire) Davis. Great-grandchildren include Kelcie (Jeron) Tallent, Tyler Bivens, Branson Black, Aspen Black, Hadley Black, Hensley Black, Jordan Beaty, and Colin Beaty. Another great-grandchild, Baby Davis, is due to arrive at the end of September. Her first great-great grandchild, Lainey Jo Tallent, is due this spring.

Lucille worked as a secretary in the Loudon County Clerk and Master’s office when her father was appointed to that position in the 1950s. Upon his death, her husband became clerk, and they worked side by side for many years. During that time, she was temporarily appointed Clerk and Master, making her Loudon County’s first woman to serve in that position. She later worked as a bookkeeper in the Trustee’s office, where she retired in 1986.

There are many to thank at Lakewood Place and Caris Hospice for the wonderful care Lucille received in her final days. The family is overwhelmed with gratitude to all who went above and beyond their regular duties to bring a smile to her face and to ensure that all were comfortable.

Lucille was a member of Blairland Baptist Church in Loudon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Blairland’s Building Fund, 730 Steekee Street, Loudon, Tennessee 37774. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 4-7PM.  Pastor Jon Henson will conduct the service, which will take place at Loudon Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 7PM. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers—Jeremy Black, Ty Davis, Brent Goodwin, Tyler Bivens, Jeron Tallent, Branson Black, Colin Beaty, and Jordan Beaty.
