Kenneth Akins

April 15, 1947- March 8, 2021:  Kenneth (Ken) Akins, “Red Wagon”, 74, of Knoxville, Tennessee, went to live with his Lord on March 8, 2021. Ken was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, Loudon, Tennessee.  He was a Vietnam Veteran and a retired truck driver of 42 years with United Parcel Services.  Ken was best known as Dad, Pop Pop, Red Wagon, brother, and friend.  His passions included building projects, helping his friends and neighbors, motorcycling, kayaking, gardening, and building relationships with others. He is preceded in death by parents, Calvin and Joyce Akins; brother, David (Termite) Akins; sister, Sherry Akins, and granddaughter, Caitlyn Akins. He is survived by his children, Bryan Akins and wife, Kelly, of Loudon, TN, and Chris Akins and wife, Cindy, of Corryton, TN; and grandchildren, Jake Akins, Cyleigh Akins, and Cambry Akins; Brothers, Scotty Akins and wife, Brenda, Gerald Akins and fiancé, Melanie; sister, Linda Akins; sister-in-law, Diane Akins, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5pm – 7pm Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Loudon Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7pm with Pastor Adam Cook and Rev. Tommy Self officiating.  Family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 1:15 Sunday, March 14, and proceed to the Loudon County Memorial Gardens for the 2 pm graveside service. Pallbearers include Gerald Akins, Scotty Akins, Jake Akins, Chris Matlock, Mike Matlock, Robert Coleman, and Chris Brown. Masks are optional.
