Wendell Wayne Conner, Sr., 81, of Knoxville, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Wayne was a lifelong resident of the Knoxville area, served in the U.S. Army, was a professional truck driver for over thirty years, and was an avid guitarist. He loved camping, canoeing, traveling, and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, June R. Conner; parents, William and Lillie Conner; brothers Robert, Kenneth, Bill, JN, Frank, and Charles Conner; and sisters Sue Tipton and Barbara Allen. He is survived by his brother, Leroy Conner; his sister Brenda Siler; his children, Teresa D. Williams (Eddie), Wendell W. Conner, Jr. (Tammy), Timothy W. Conner (Stephanie), and Christopher D. Conner (Stacy); his grandchildren Travis York (Alecia), Nathan York (Heather), Jennifer McCuiston, Caitlin Conner, Kelsey Conner, Emily Hightower (Tristan), Erin Conner, and Christin Hagenson (Ryan), as well as 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The burial service will occur at East Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery (Gov. John Sevier Hwy) on Thursday, December 16, at 2:00 pm. A receiving of friends will occur at Loudon Funeral Home on Thursday, December 16, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm with a memorial service to follow.
