Sherman Akin

July 20, 1927 — January 8, 2016

Sherman T. Akin 88, of Loudon passed away Friday January 8, 2016 at his home. Sherman was a 20 year career veteran of the Air Force, Air traffic Control Department. Devoted family man and loved to travel. Preceded in death by children, Sherman Akin Jr, Johnny Akin, Deborah Bonner and Susan Akin; parents, John Randolph and Mary Jane Taylor Akin. Survived by wife of 71 years, Evelyn Johnson Akin; children, Robert Akin of Johnson City, Gary Akin and wife Robin, of West Virginia, Sharon Dotson, of Loudon; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A joint memorial service for Sherman and Deborah Bonner, who died September 6, 2015, will be held Friday, 6 p.m. at Loudon Funeral Home Chapel with Military Honors provided by Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard.
