Sean Giles of Philadelphia passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.  Sean was a devoted husband, father, grandfather “Hop”, and faithful friend. Sean attended Lenoir City High School before entering the US Army. He would continue with a career in road construction, including serving Loudon County as the Road Superintendent from 2006-2010. Sean’s most cherished moments were spent with his family, teaching his children and grandchildren crabbing and fishing in the gulf.

He is preceded in death by grandparents Mohlar & Lucille Giles, and Stanley & Inez Phillips, brother Chuck Giles and Betty Aikens. Survived by his wife of 38 years, Julie Smith Giles; children and spouses: Alexis (Josh) Turbeville of Vicenza, Italy; Hunter (Paige) Giles of Lenoir City; grandchildren: Huck, Stella, Nicolas, Noah, Duke, and Cora; Father and Mother: Ralph & Gipsy Giles; Brother: Poynor (Tammy) Giles; Father and Mother in-law: David E. & Mary Smith; Best friends Chris & Sandra Saylor and Tim Shilling.

The family appreciates all the compassion and support from both the Loudon County community and the nurses and staff at Vanderbilt Hospital over the last year. The family will receive friends and family from 4pm to 7pm Monday January 22, 2024 at Southern Belle Events, 102 East Broadway, Lenoir City TN. A private memorial will follow. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to the American Cancer Society & The Hope Lodge in Nashville.
