Mary Lou Shomber, 87, of Loudon, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 27, 1939, she was the cherished daughter of the late Forrest and Helen Wheeler. Mary Lou was a beloved wife, stepmother, sister, aunt, and grandmother who brought immense joy to everyone who knew her.

Lou lived a vibrant, full, and incredibly active life rooted in her love for her family and her deep faith. As a good Christian woman, her life was defined by kindness, grace, and a servant's heart. She built a beautiful, lasting life alongside her beloved husband, Gary Shomber. Together, they shared over 20 years of love, devotion, and wonderful adventures. Known for her high energy and fun-loving spirit, Mary Lou never liked to sit still. She was always on the move, whether she was taking lively dance classes, hitting the lanes for bowling, or spending sunny days out on the water boating. Some of her absolute favorite memories were made on the open road, riding the motorcycle side-by-side with Gary. Above all of her adventures, Mary Lou deeply loved her grandchildren, finding her greatest joy in watching them grow. Her life was a beautiful reflection of her faith, filled with warmth, laughter, and a true sense of adventure.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Shomber; sisters, Bette and Shirley (Doyle); stepchildren, Marc (Erin) and Carrie (Aaron); beloved grandchildren, Emily Kate, Sean, Eleanor, and Evey; nephews, Todd (Phyllis), Ron (Lisa), Gary (Josephine), Larry (Keka), and David; and a host of loving great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Helen Wheeler; and her beloved sister, Linda.
