Larry Gene Cate Sr., born February 9, 1939, passed away at home on March 13, 2026.

He was the publisher and editor of the Loudon County Herald, now known as the News-Herald of Loudon County. He was also the founder of LC Office Supply on Leeper Parkway in Lenoir City. Later, he had a brief career in real estate in Tellico Village before retiring.

Larry was a long-time resident of Loudon County and Tellico Village. He and his wife, Kaye, lived in Tellico Village for several years and were founding members of First Baptist Church of Tellico Village, where he served faithfully in various capacities for many years. In his final years, he and Kaye were residents of The Neighborhood Assisted Living Facility of Tellico Village.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.J. Cate and Virginia Justice Cate, and his sister, Mary Lynn Cate.

He is survived by his wife, Kaye Cate; son, Larry Gene Cate Jr.; stepsons, Bryan Lindsey and Tony Lindsey; brother, Rev. Dan Cate; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 1:00–2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Tellico Village. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, with Dr. Glenn H. Gregg and Dr. Charlie Bernard officiating.
