Joel Reed Gardner, age 89, of Loudon, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Reed retired from Maremont after 32 years. He was a member of Tennessee Lodge 204 F&AM.
Reed is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Ada Gardner; grandson, Larry Wayne Woods; great granddaughter, Darby Ashton Cooley; siblings and their spouses Richard (Dorothy) Gardner, Carl (Ethel) Gardner, Tom Gardner, Gene (Ray) Purdy, Lola (Doc) Anderson, Florence (Tom) Ritchey and Othel (Ce) Steed. He is survived by his wife, Nettie Louise Gardner; sister-in-law, Trudy Gardner children, Randy (Rita) Gardner, Kay (Danny) Nicholson and Brenda (Luke) Scott; grandchildren, Travis (Lisa) Gardner, Heath Cooley, Michael (Glenda) Woods, April (Marshal) Miller, Trinity (Amy) Scott, Nina (Ronnie) Deland, Dusty (Deanna) Nicholson; great grandchildren, Ryan (Megan) Gardner, Kinsley (Brandon) Burnette, Jacob Gardner, Jasper Cooley, Maylee Cooley, Will Miller, Kayla Miller, Katie Scott, Mary Scott, Desera Woods, Savannah (Tyler) Wooten and Hunter Deland; and seven great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Loudon Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Arlin Gurley officiating. Graveside service will be at 2PM Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
