James Underwood

James Douglas Underwood, age 81 of Sweetwater, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023.  He loved attending Community Baptist Church in Madisonville.  He loved going to church and he loved Christian music. He loved to fish, travel, watch westerns and play games. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by his parents, James and Connie Underwood; his first wife, Nellie Underwood and two younger brothers. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Underwood; children, Jan Spoon and Teresa Sherbert; grandchildren, Pam Yearwood and husband Matt, Chris Spoon and Bobby Sigmon; great grandchild, Jake Yearwood; sister, Judy Sisk and extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM – 7 PM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Loudon Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 7 PM. Rev. Dennis Atkins will officiate.  Graveside service will be 11 AM Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Christianburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
