James Thompson

James R. "Rocky" Thompson, 85 of Loudon, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Rocky was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. His mission in his later years was to visit any friends and family that were "shut in". He loved to sit with them for long periods of time; to share stories and encourage them. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Thompson; parents, W.R. and Dora (Smallen) Thompson; sisters, Bernice Anderson and Alma Nix Moore; brothers, Gene, Bill, Clifford and Mervin Thompson. He is survived by his son, James Thompson and fiancé, Dale; daughter, Debbie Ippert and husband, John; grandchildren, Nikki and Herbie; six great grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Eller, Joyce Colvard and Mary Shell; brothers, Charles, David, Sam and Donnie Thompson; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be 3pm Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Loudon Funeral Home, with Rev. David Thompson and Rev. Ron Davis officiating. Interment to follow at Loudon County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1pm - 3pm, prior to the service at Loudon Funeral Home. www.loudonfuneralhome.net
