James Newman Galyon Jr., age 93, of Kingston, passed away on May 31, 2026.
Born in Paint Rock, James attended Midway High School and spent many years working for the Clinton Courier and the Roane County News, where he served in several capacities throughout his career.
James was of the Methodist faith. He was a talented photographer, gifted guitar player and musician, and enjoyed gardening. He was a wonderful neighbor who loved the community he called home and was well-known for his kindness and friendly spirit.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Swicegood Galyon; parents, James Galyon Sr. and Alice Galyon; and sister, Christine Galyon Brown.
James is survived by his son, James David Galyon; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Loudon Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
