Jack Shope

Jack Shope, age 85 of Loudon, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at his home. Jack was a Christian and attended Corinth Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was retired from Viskase Corp and a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his son, Ernie; parents, Fred and Julia Myers Shope; brothers, Hugh, R.J., and Beecher; and sister, Naomi. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Kirkland Shope; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Rachel Shope, of Knoxville and James and Dixie Shope, of Muskogee, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Donnie Toohey, of Springfield, TN; grandchildren Kirkland Toohey, Andrew Toohey and Candice Elrod; brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Glenda Shope, of Athens; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 7:00 pm Friday, Loudon Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Arp officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 am Saturday at Cedar Valley Cemetery.
