Gid Lee Russell

Gid Lee Russell, age 87, of Loudon, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 25, 2026. He was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Piney Ruritan Club. Gid loved to travel. He was a people person who never met a stranger.

He is preceded in death by his son, Gary H. Russell; his parents, Fred Russell and Gladys Womble; and his siblings, Sammie Russell, Clarence “Butch” Russell, Wanda Pellom, and Imogene Coker.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Russell; his siblings, Rose Simpson, Judy Arnett and husband Marvin, Jerry Russell and wife Peggy, and Larry Russell; his stepchildren, Christopher Hensley and Michael Geagley; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The family would like to thank family and friends for their support during this time, and extend a special thank you to Covenant Hospice Group, Bonnie Thurman, Tammy Waters, and Cici Slessor.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Russell, Jason Russell, John Allen Russell, Patrick Russell, Fraser Slessor, and Hayden Thomas.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 5–7 p.m. at Loudon Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow, with Rev. Jeremy McNally officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Simpson Cemetery.
