Dorothy Williams

September 22, 1923 — October 15, 2017

Dorothy (Dot) Williams passed away October 15, 2017 at Baptist Healthcare Center in Lenoir City. She was a member of Blairland Baptist Church in Loudon. She loved her church family and faithfully attended Sunday School and worship services. She was an active worker in the church until her health would not allow it. She very much enjoyed the Loudon County Senior Citizen Center for many years. There, she would volunteer and arrive very early to make breakfast for special occasions. She participated in all activities that she could fit into her schedule. She especially enjoyed the group van trips and the exercise class. Dot was accomplished in quilting. She made sure each of her children and grandchildren had a quilt from her. Each year she would decide who would get the quilt for Christmas. She was a good cook, especially those apple stack cakes made from apples she would dry in the sun every year. Dot was preceded by her husband, Arthur Williams; parents, Arthur and Laura Akins; infant twin sisters, Amie and Mamie Akins; sister, Agnus Akins; brothers, James Akins, George Akins and Paul Akins; sisters-in-law, Mary Ella Akins, Betty Akins; brother-in-law, Arthur (Doby) Franks. Dot is survived by her four children and spouses; Sharon DeFord and Franklin, of Loudon, Allen Williams and Vicki, of Paducah, KY, Gary Williams and Betty, of Knoxville, and Rick Williams and Nancy, of Greensboro, NC; her six grandchildren, Holly DeFord Harris and Tracy, Loudon, Emily Williams Miller and Zack, of Stockholm, Sweden, Eric Williams and Leigh, of Hixson TN, Christie Coker of Knoxville, Michael Williams, Raleigh, NC, and Melissa Williams of Goose Creek, SC; four great granddaughters, Taylor, Gracie, Dory and Sylvie; sister, Wanda Akins Franks; brother, Herby Akins; sisters-in-law, Nora Akins and Alline Akins, all of Loudon; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Baptist Healthcare in Lenoir City and the entire staff for the excellent care they gave to our loved one. We will be forever grateful for the loving care and concern from her caregivers. Funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, at Blairland Baptist Church, with Pastor Jon Henson officiating. The family will receive friends 12pm - 2pm prior to the service, at the church. Interment at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blairland Baptist Church building fund, 730 Steekee Street, Loudon, TN 37774. Loudon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. www.loudonfuneralhome.net
