Donna Nelms Kelly passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at home in Sweetwater, TN. She was preceded in death by her father Rev. A. R. Nelms and father-in-law, Dorris Kelly. Survived by her loving husband, Steve Mitchell Kelly; daughters, Amanda Kelly, of the home and Michelle Kelly, of Murfreesboro; mother, Mrs. Barbara Nelms; sister, Karen Nelms Edwards, of Hixson; mother-in-law, Mrs. Georgia Kelly, of Mascot; sisters-in-law, Jeanie Kelly (Hal) Watts and Angela Kelly (Buster) Smith; and two nieces. Donna graduated from Loudon High School and attended business school. She graduated from Hiwassee College. She finished a BS degree from the University of Tennessee in Special Education. She taught school at Orange Grove, Chattanooga with mentally challenged children and adults. Donna accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. Her membership was at Woodland Heights Church in Chattanooga, where her father was pastor. Donna fought a long hard battle with Syringomyelia; a disease of the spinal cord. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Donna's memory to American Syringomyelia & Chiari Alliance project Inc. P.O. Box 1586 Longview, TX 75606-1586. Funeral service will be 7pm Friday at Loudon Funeral Home, with Chaplain Nathan Prince, Rev. Joe Watson and Rev. Tim Watson officiating. Family and friends will meet at Clear Springs Cemetery, Mascot, TN on Saturday, for 2pm graveside service. The family will receive friends 5pm - 7pm Friday, prior to the service.
