Coretha Dean Sheppard, age 85, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at her daughter's home in Acworth, GA, after being sick for a couple of months. Dean was born on September 26, 1930, in Lewisburg, TN, to the late Ernest L. Massey and Mary Wash Reed Massey. In 1948, Dean married Fred B. Sheppard, Jr. in Athens, AL. She and Fred spent most of their married life in Lenoir City and Loudon. She worked for Wampler's Farm Sausage for 17 years and then retired from Parkwest Medical Center in 1992. After the passing of her beloved husband, Dean moved to Acworth in 2004, where she resided independently until December. Dean was a very humble, strong and caring person. She was always helping others and taking people into her home. She was a hard worker and the best cook. She had a strong Christian faith and loved her family and friends. She was a member of North Cobb Church of Christ, Kennesaw, GA and formerly of Lenoir City Church of Christ. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Fred B. Sheppard, Jr; granddaughter, Kisty Eyvonne Padgett; brother Alfred Massey; sisters, Martha Hambrick and Reponzel Ingram. Survived by daughter, Eyvonne Padgett; sons, Ronald Sheppard (Marcia) and Danny Sheppard (Teresa), and daughter, Patricia Miller (Robin), of Acworth, GA; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and one due in September; brother-in-law, Jimmy Hambrick, of Athens, AL and sister-in-law, Edna Massey; along with nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at the Lenoir City Church of Christ on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 1 p.m. with Brother Kent Bailey officiating. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. prior to the service, with interment following at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to one of the following organizations in her name: Raintree Village Children and Family Services, 3757 Johnston Rd., Valdosta, GA 31601; American Heart Association; or Kidney Foundation.
