Curtis Hinds

March 22, 1921 — June 4, 2016

Robert Curtis (Curt) Hinds, born March 22, 1921, and at age 95 on Saturday June the 4th, 2016, with a smile on his face, went to his heavenly home and to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while surrounded by his loving family and friends. The only son of 6 children, was retired from TVA after 34 years of service and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII serving aboard the U.S.S. Cassiopeia during the battle to retake the Philippines. He was a member and deacon of Steekee Creek Missionary Baptist Church, coon hunter, fisherman, and farmer. He loved to raise, sell, and give away produce especially green beans. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years Juanita Broglin Hinds, infant daughter Brenda Joyce. Parents: John and Gertie Galyon Hinds, Sisters Idalene Gray, Lafon Moore, Opal Lance, Myrel Raby, and Mary Fitzgerald. Survived by children: Sons: Wayne Hinds (special friend Jane Harvey) Lenoir City, Bryan Hinds (special friend Gloria Yates) Paint Rock. Daughters: Sue Presley (Larry) Loudon, Sharon Best (David) Philadelphia. Grandchildren: Keith Presley (Juli), Crystal Durman (Marc), Brandon Hinds, Kelly Leming (Chad), Jason West, Shellece Hinds, Berea Burton, and 8 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers: Larry Presley, David Best, Bryan Hinds, Keith Presley, Marc Durman, and Chad Leming. Services: Visitation Monday, June 6th 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Funeral to follow. Officiating: Rick Kirkland, Tim Watson. Interment: 11am Wednesday, June 8th, Galyon Cemetery in Paint Rock, Tennessee with Rev. Thomas Lynn Officiating The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Amedisys Hospice of Sweetwater: 665 New Highway 68, Suite B, Sweetwater, TN 37874 Also, the family would like to thank everyone for all their visits, prayers, cards, flowers, and acts of kindness to Curtis during his nursing home care, his caretakers at Sweetwater Nursing Center and especially Amedisys Hospice for their help and compassion.
