Bobby Sean Lankford, age 56, of Loudon, passed away in the comfort of his own home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 surrounded by family and close friends.
Bobby proudly served the community he loved through his career with the Loudon Police Department, where he dedicated 30 years of service. He also served on the regional SWAT team, assisting throughout Loudon, Roane, and Monroe county. He was recently presented with a Congressional Flag in recognition of his years of dedicated service and endless commitment to his community. He was a 1988 graduate of Loudon High School and later attended ITT Technical Institute, earning a degree in engineering. Bobby lived a life of service and dedicated much of his off-duty hours to helping others and giving back to his community. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved fishing with his friends. He was a proud supporter and contributor to the Loudon Redskins Bass Team and took great pride in encouraging young people to pursue their passion for fishing. For many years, he helped organize and oversee the annual Loudon Fire and Police Departments Children's Christmas Fund Turkey Shoot and Raffle Fundraiser, which raised money to help provide Christmas for children in the community. Bobby attended Fairview Baptist Tabernacle Church and was a man of strong faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Gene Lankford.
Bobby is survived by his mother, Emma Sue Lankford; the love of his life, Darcy Smith; stepmother, Mary Lankford; stepbrother, Chad Scott; aunts, Patsy Jane Dailey, Kathy Geraldine Eller, Beverly Ann Moser, and Phyllis Stimens; as well as many close friends and fishing buddies.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Loudon Redskins Bass Team.
